Connect with nature during mental health month and beyond
Mental Health month is in October each year and World Mental Health Day is on October 10th. The Australian theme this year is Together we Thrive. It is an important opportunity to raise awareness of mental health, reduce stigma and encourage people to seek support when they need it. For more information on World Mental Health Day in Australia see here.
Nature plays a vital role in helping to reduce stress, anxiety and depression and improve mood, cognition and emotional well-being. Kings Park is one of the largest city centre parks in the world and offers a huge green space to people in the city to connect with nature.
During October Kings Park Guides are offering a range of guided walks in the botanic gardens and bushland.
- Enjoy Water Views and Bushland every Monday
- Explore Wildflowers and Bushland daily
- Discover Kings Park twice daily
- Stretch out on our 3 hour Heart of the Park Walk every Friday
In addition, during October and November we are offering two Themed walks focusing on mental well-being:
- Treading Softly: Mindfully Meeting Nature in Kings Park on 27 October and 26 November
- A Walk on the Quiet Side on 2 November
And finally, for those with a four-legged friend, why not bring your trusty companion on a Paws and Plants walk on 15 November.
For details of all our walks see the Kings Park Guides website.
