Seasonal bushland walks begin soon
The recent welcome rain falling in Perth has brought the Kings Park bushland to life. Flowers beginning to appear include bunny orchids, greenhood orchids and hoveas. See flowering plants sparkling with raindrops if you are lucky enough to catch them after a shower.
Winter also sees the start of two of our seasonal walks – Heart of the Park and Water Views and Wilderness, both beginning in the first week of July. The cooler weather makes these longer walks very enjoyable.
Heart of the Park is an extended, three-hour walk on bushland tracks in the banksia woodlands of one of the biggest city centre parks in the world. There is much to see and learn along the way. Take in the beauty of some our unique and diverse flora, find out how plants survive the harsh environment and more. This walk costs $10, can be booked on Eventbrite here and takes place every Friday between July and October.
Water Views and Wilderness gives you the best of both worlds. Be delighted with the views of the Swan River and Perth city that unfold on this walk. Cultivated native plants in the Botanic Garden contrast with wildflowers of the Kings Park bushland. This walk is free and there is no need to book. It takes place at 10am every Monday from July to October. For more details of this walk see our walks page here
