Guide Barbara’s plant of the month for December

The genus Verticordia (literally meaning turner of hearts) does just that with its beautiful feather-like flowers in an amazing array of colours.
Guide Barbara’s flower of the month, Verticordia grandis, has the largest flower of the 100 plus species in the genus. With its bright red flower it’s a stunner and shows its festive red and green colours.
In Western Australia it grows in the open sand heath country between the Moore and Murchison Rivers. In Kings Park it can be seen in the Mound, the Roe Garden and the Verticordia garden and it’s putting on a show for you right now. Check with the Guides in the Visitor Information Centre where to find it or ask your Guide on a guided walk.
